Our Team

Christine Henningsen
Christine is an attorney with over 10 years of experience both inside and outside of the courtroom. She practiced juvenile defense in Omaha, Nebraska for 5 years prior to joining UNL’s Center on Children, Families and the Law. As project director of Nebraska Youth Advocates, Christine oversees the training and advocacy areas as well as serving on various statewide juvenile justice collaborations.

Joy Suder
Joy has practiced juvenile defense since graduating from law school in 2008. She currently has a private law practice where she specializes in juvenile law. As staff attorney for Nebraska Youth Advocates she assists in all program areas as well as serving as Co-Chairperson of Douglas County’s Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiatives Case Processing Subcommittee.

Krystia Reed
Krystia graduated from UNL Law School in 2016 and is currently working on completing her PhD in Psychology from UNL. She serves as a graduate assistant for Nebraska Youth Advocates, overseeing the project evaluation on procedural fairness in juvenile court, focusing on youths’ impressions on interactions with their defense counsel.

Vicky Weisz
Vicky is Professor Emeritus at UNL’s Center on Children, Families and the Law. She is the faculty supervisor for Krystia and oversees the program and project evaluation for Nebraska Youth Advocates.
